Workshops

We run regular small group Workshops at our home in 194 Beckenham Road (side entrance), BR3 4RJ.  Workshops are for a maximum of 4-5 babies or 7-8 adults, last around 1.5-2 hours and cost from £15 to attend.

Why Choose a Workshop?

Workshops offer a more focused and calm environment than our Carrying Clinic Sessions, whilst being more affordable and social than a Private Consultation.  Each workshop is designed to suit a particular stage of baby development, or to cover a specific carrier or carrying position.  This means that the content will be focused so that everyone can get a chance to practice each skill or product and to ask any questions that they have.

What Workshops are there?

We currently offer the following Workshops, many running every month (outside school holidays).  We’re happy to consider other topics, or schedule custom workshops for your group so do let us know if there’s something else you’d like us to cover:

New Baby Workshop (for babies aged 0-3 months)

Baby’s Getting Bigger Workshop (for babies aged 3m+ with good head control)

Back Carrying Workshop (for babies aged 6m+ or who can sit unaided)

Intro to Woven Wraps Workshop (for babies of all ages)

Coming soon:

Hip Carrying Workshop (for babies aged 3m+ with good head control)

Twin Carrying Workshop (for twins and multiples)

Other topics we could cover include: Back Wrapping, Tandem Carrying, Make your own Sling…. if you might be interested in any of these (or anything else) then just email us to let us know!

New Baby Workshop

If there is time we may also cover other carrier types. We will plan for there to be enough of each type of sling and carrier for every baby present, though the actual brands present will vary from session to session depending on Sling Library stock availability. If you would like to see or try a specific brand then please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate if available.

Baby’s Getting Bigger Workshop

A carrying workshop for those with growing babies run by our experienced and knowledgeable babywearing consultant Emily.  Babies grow and change very quickly, gaining new abilities and preferences every week. Many people find that the sling or carrier that’s perfect for their newborn starts to feel less suitable in some situations as their baby gets bigger, heavier and more active.  This workshop is for parents who feel that they need a supportive, comfortable carrying solution to meet their changing needs, and who would prefer a calmer environment than our regular Open Sessions.

When and Where:  Some Wednesdays 1:00 – 2:30 during school term times; check our Calendar for dates.  The venue is at 194 Beckenham Road (side entrance), BR3 4RJ; see our Sling Library Location page for travel and venue information.

Suitable for: Those with a baby aged approx 3-12 months who feel that they would like a new carrying solution as their baby gets bigger, heavier and more active.

What we’ll cover: This workshop will introduce you to the principles of safe, comfortable front carrying using soft structured carriers and mei tais. If there is time we may also cover woven wraps and/or ring slings. You’ll find out how to check for a safe carry in any sling or carrier; you’ll try out at least two types of sling and carrier using your baby and/or a weighted doll, and get the chance to ask questions and find out about many more carrying options too!

At the end of the session you will have the chance to hire or buy slings and carriers from us and will benefit from a special workshop discount on all product purchases made on the day.

We will plan for there to be enough of each type of sling and carrier for every baby present, though the actual brands present will vary from session to session depending on Sling Library stock availability. If you would like to see or try a specific brand then please let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
